Do less, do it better
As we get into the swing of 2026, here’s a simple principle worth holding onto: do less, but do it better.
We all have bright ideas - and in hospitality, with so much happening day-to-day, it’s easy to let every idea pull us in a different direction. But the real difference comes from seeing ideas through and embedding them properly, rather than scattering energy across too many priorities (see image below).
This approach is especially powerful for creative minds: you might generate lots of exciting ideas, but the true impact comes from following through on the ones that matter most.
Right now, this principle matters more than ever. With finances under pressure, focusing on fewer, high-impact priorities is more cost-effective. And in a busy, fast-paced environment, doing less allows you to cut workload to what truly matters, keeping your team clear, focused, and preventing overwhelm. Simplifying your plans and projects ensures everyone knows exactly where to invest their energy.
So when you’re planning for 2026, resist the temptation to create a long list of initiatives. The real work is deciding where your energy is best spent. Doing less, but doing it exceptionally well, will take you further than ten half-finished projects ever could. Pick the priorities that genuinely matter, commit to them, and watch what happens
For a deeper dive into this mindset, I highly recommend Essentialism by Greg McKeown- a brilliant read for anyone wanting to focus on what truly matters.
And remember, if you want a little help deciding priorities and seeing them to completion that’s exactly what we’re here for.
