Your body is present. Is your mind?

Our minds are busy and scattered places.

Mindfulness is stopping and noticing the thoughts and emotions whirring through our minds. You can do it anywhere! Even in the middle of a busy restaurant.

Doing this creates a bit of healthy space between us and our minds. Rather than REACT automatically, we learn to RESPOND consciously.

5 things my clients say help:

😌 A morning routine
Starting every day with at least 15 minutes dedicated to yourself. Choose anything that grounds you. Win the morning, win the day.

😌 Meditating
Meditation is a workout for your mind. Just like doing reps, you get bigger muscles you will get better at responding skilfully to your thoughts. Try @headspace if you are new to it.

😌 Come to your senses
As you walk outside, notice 5 things you see, 4 sounds, 3 things you feel, 2 you smell, 1 taste. This brings you back into your body, which calms a busy mind.

😌 20 second pauses
Several times a day stop and breath 5 times in and out deeply, focussing on how the breath feels as it enters and leaves your body.

😌 Habit stack
You can add these pauses to an existing habit to remember to do them. Maybe every time you have a drink, or go into the cold store (chefs!), or wash your hands.

What would 10% more mindful look like in your world? What would help you get there?
